just off the reeperbahn there is a classic italian restaurant that the american & the german have entered through a perfect red door. where they have settled into a wonderful simulation of the perfect dinner by candlelight, with just the right amount of people to populate the moment & an improbable label on the wine bottle that may or may not be the face of hitler. where, at the end of a cannabis-fueled performance to entertain the german with perfectly timed wit, the american is compelled to end dinner with a succinct & heartfelt announcement: ich liebe das wort vielleicht, vielleicht.
